The CustomMaps Privacy Statement

We believe that many Internet privacy statements are too complicated. They probably became complicated because the attorneys were trying to provide the maximum flexibility for use of the private information collected about customers, while making it sound like the information would always be kept private.

We have a simpler approach. We will never give your private information to any other company. Period. We won't sell it. We won't exchange it for something else we need. If our company is ever acquired, the terms of that acquisition will be that information about your transactions with us are not part of the acquisition. Simple as that.

We will need to get your mailing address, because that's the only way to send you a CustomMaps trip plan (for now; maybe we can use electronic means when we all have faster Internet connections, or we all use handheld computers). We will never mail anything else to you that you haven't ordered.

We will need to ask for your telephone number, because we have found that sometimes there are questions about the travel plans as they are entered. However, if you don't want to put your phone number in, that's ok....we'll make our best educated guess as to what you asked for. We won't telephone you, at dinner or any other time, other than to try to serve you better on your specific trip plan request. We hate getting those calls as much as you do.

We will ask for your email address, because we might be able to resolve a question that way. If you don't wish to give it, we'll process your order using our best judgement, as explained in the preceding paragraph. Using email is better than a telephone call because you can reply when you wish. We would like to have one chance following that to send you another email if we introduce something else neat in our CustomMaps trip plans, just so you'll know about it. Most people who use a CustomMaps trip plan for one trip will request another, later on. However, if we do send you that one email, we will include a way for you to eliminate your email address from our records, and once that happens, you won't receive any more email from us.
